About Our Club
The Rotary Club of Spring Bay was sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Norfolk, leading to its charter being granted on 16th April 1973. In 2023 the Club celebrated it’s 50th Anniversary.
Rotary started with the vision of one man - Paul Harris…
The Chicago attorney, Paul Harris, formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world.
The Rotary Club of Spring Bay was sponsored by the Rotary Club of New Norfolk, leading to its charter being granted on 16th April 1973. Since then the Club has distributed over $500,000 to the local community and provided facilities such as BMX tracks, a cricket clubhouse, public BBQ’s, seating, bus shelters and medical equipment.
Other efforts include supporting various international student exchange programs, providing work experience, participating in overseas projects such as post-tsunami village restoration in Papa New Guinea, supporting global campaigns such as Polio Plus and being significantly involved in joint projects including the Eldercare units, a public toilet block, and the Tasmanian Seafarers’ Memorial.
